Chris Burnett Associates were appointed to undertake a landscape appraisal of Barnard Castle in 2008 /9. Following a detailed assessment of the historic core of the town and the wider countryside which involved historic research and stakeholder consultation workshops, a series of projects were identified and examined in greater detail. CBA were then appointed under a framework consultancy basis to implement several of the key recommended regeneration projects. One project, the open space called Scar Top near the castle has now achieved planning consent following an extensive programme of public consultation and is in the process of detailed design prior to being implemented on the ground in 2012 /13
